Beyond The Conviction’s  2008

Capital Campaign for  1.5 Million Dollars

For  Future Growth and Expansion Gains First Major Gift

Since Beyond The Conviction opened its doors in 2006, over 290 ex-offenders are actively being serviced in pre-employment counseling and are attending GED training to better themselves for the very competitive current employment market. Beyond the Conviction would like to double the number of clients that its serve in 2008 by expanding our existing offices within the

Historic Lincoln Building.        In 2008, it is our intention to pursue two active goals for future growth and development: With the assistance of Mr. Parnell Riley our first goal is to raise 1. 5 million dollars for future growth and expansion of Beyond The Conviction. Through Mr. Riley’s Hard work, dedication, and passion for the mission of Beyond The Conviction, we have recieved our first major gift of $10,000.00 from Marvin’s Midtown Chiropractic Clinic.   Dr. Ronald Marvin and Clinton Marvin, owners of Marvins Midtown Chiropractic Clinic, 811 E. Linwood Blvd., Kansas City, Missouri, announced today that they will be one of the ground floor sponsors of Beyond The Conviction, a non-for-profit organization dedicated to offering ex-offender an array of services designed to make their return to the community successful.         The Marvin family said their father, Dr. Jack L. Marvin, founded the clinic at its present location in March, 1957.  They said the clinic would not have survived over the years without the support of the community and they want to show their appreciation for that support by helping sponsor an organization they believe will be good for the community. Dr. Marvin said crime is a terrible blight on the inner-city.  Majority of the crime is committed by a small percentage of the residents.  A major problem is that when the ex-offenders are returned to the community they are ill-equipped to find employment and pursue a crime-free life.  Beyond The Conviction is a non-for-profit organization designed to educate, empower, develop, and prepare ex-offenders so they will be successful in obtaining employment which is key factor in preventing recidivism. The Marvins Family said they are grateful they are able to sponsor such a worthy cause.           Our second goal is to actively meet and establish contacts with the Greater Kansas City Ethnic and Alternative Communities so they too can participate in all of the services that Beyond the Conviction has to offer. As you well know, ex-offenders come from all walks of life and it is our goal to reach those who truly need some hope, encouragement and inspiration to overcome their past in a very productive manner.      Beyond The Conviction is a 5013C IRS recognized not-for-profit organization whose mission is to reduce the recidivism rate of ex-offenders by providing an array of services ranging from Career Development, Educational Training and Employment Resources and advocacy geared toward breaking down both tradition and non-traditional barriers hindering career and life advancement for ex-offenders.
Beyond The Conviction will hold a press conference on Thursday 11:00 a.m. at the Historic Lincoln Building to kick-off its first capital campaign.  Join us and meet the Beyond The Conviction staff who are deeply committed to help ex-offenders gain productive and prosperous employment opportunities.
